Qualcomm introduced its new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship chipset and makers are now rushing to refresh their performance-oriented devices. Xiaomi already unveiled the 12S series, and it’s also about to give us a Redmi phone with the new top chip.
The brand chief Lu Weibing, also known as William Lu, revealed on Weibo there is a new Redmi K50 flagship in the works and it will come “soon” with the Qualcomm platform.
Lu reposted an image that Xiaomi shared before, confirming 33% better energy efficiency of the Plus’ CPU and 30% of the GPU. We expected the phone to be called Redmi K50 Ultra but since the series is still bound to the domestic market, we have heard practically nothing about a follow-up.
Some reports suggest the name will be Redmi K50S, akin to the Xiaomi 12S series. However in the past S has denoted a special member of the Redmi lineups rather than an update.
